Drunk Thai man 'returns from the dead' and runs two miles back home
This is the baffling moment a drunk Thai man allegedly returned from the dead and ran two miles back to his home in Thailand.
Prueang Enmak, 59, was rushed to a hospital when he collapsed and stopped breathing after a night of drinking at his home in Surin province on June 9.
Medics managed to revive the unconscious man through CPR, and took him to the state-run Prasat Hospital for treatment.
However, he reportedly sat up on his stretcher all of a sudden, before ripping the IV off his arm and barging out of the emergency vehicle.
Shocked responders watched as a seemingly reinvigorated Prueang jogged barefoot for two miles along the road while threatening them with a wooden stick.
His relatives later arrived to stop his rampage and take him back home.
Rescuer Worrasethtakorn Sakdasakunkunakorn, 33, said: 'When we arrived at the man's house, his family was performing CPR on him. He opened his eyes after 20 minutes but was still unresponsive so we took him to the hospital.
'At our stop at the Ban Thanong School to transfer him, he swung his arms at the nurses and escaped the vehicle. I followed him, but I couldn't get close because he was waving around a long wooden stick.'
One of the medics, Orapan Domhom, 23, said her phone was shattered and she suffered minor injuries from Prueang's sudden outburst.
She said: 'The man's relatives promised to pay for the phone repairs. I don't hold it against him because he was probably disoriented at the time. This is just part of being an emergency worker.'
Prueang's wife Sombat, 57, recalled that her husband had downed three bottles of beer before taking a shower.
She said: 'He was taking a long time in the bathroom so I went to check on him. When I peeked in the gap of the door, I saw him lying unconscious. I called the rest of the family and we dragged him out of the bathroom and performed CPR while waiting for the rescue team.'
She claimed Prueang had previously collapsed from a similar incident around five years ago.
Meanwhile, a now-lucid Prueang told local reporters that he felt exhausted following the impromptu marathon.
He said: 'I don't know how I was able to run that far. All I could think about was that I refused to go to the hospital and wanted to go home.'
