Deliverymen went the extra mile and carried a fridge through a sewer to reach a customer living in a slum.

Geramil Gaela and his colleagues had to bring the 6ft-tall appliance to an address which they could not find at first and it turned out to be a home in the slums in Manila, the Philippines.

Footage shows the diligent workers lifting the heavy refrigerator sideways so it could fit under the passageway with dirty water.

Aside from the narrow space which they had to negotiate through, bad smell covered the area.

Geramil said: ‘We thought we were lost but the customer called us and gave us instructions how to reach them. We didn't expect it would be through the sewer.'

The refrigerator arrived safely to its new owners and the workers accomplished their task for the day.

Manila, which has a rich history dating back to Spanish colonial rule, now faces challenges with widespread urban poverty and lack of affordable housing options leading to the growth of informal settlements where many residents struggle to meet their basic needs.
