Two people were killed and at least 12 more injured in a minibus crash in India's Kashmir region today.

The vehicle was travelling along the Pazalpora Mundji Road when the driver reportedly lost control due to a brake failure on June 13.

The minibus overturned, killing two passengers and wounding at least 12 others. The injured were shifted to the Government Medical College Baramulla for treatment.

The hospital's medical superintendent told local media: 'We received two confirmed deaths and 12 injured who are stable.'

Dangiwacha Police which has jurisdiction over the area said an investigation into the accident was underway.

The crash happened several days following another bus crash caused by a suspected terrorist attack also in Kashmir.

Gunmen allegedly attacked the bus carrying dozens of pilgrims returning from a Hindu shrine in the Reasi district on June 9.

The shooting sent the vehicle tumbling into a ravine, killing at least nine and injuring 33 more.

The Kashmir region, which is the subject of a territorial dispute between India and Muslim Pakistan, has been wracked by separatist militant insurgency since 1989, with India regularly accusing Pakistan of arming the rebels.
