On June 11, 2024, a wildfire ignited near the Twin Lakes Recreation Area in Colorado, USA, likely started by an abandoned campfire, according to investigators. The Interlaken fire quickly spread to about three-quarters of a square mile by late Wednesday, burning on the south side of Twin Lakes Reservoir close to the Twin Lakes Historic District, approximately 20 miles south of Leadville. While no homes or buildings have been damaged yet, several communities have been ordered to evacuate, with authorities cautioning other residents to be prepared to leave if conditions worsen. A video shared by @TonySides captured a massive white smoke cloud billowing as helicopters worked to contain the blaze.
