Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico - June 11, 2024

Hurricane Otis, category 5, made landfall in Acapulco on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 12:25 a.m., resulting in extensive destruction of the city's infrastructure: one of the tourist destinations par excellence in Mexico.

In Acapulco, which in past decades was a most glamorous tourism destination, more than 80% of the hotels and businesses suffered damage and some 250,000 people were affected. The powerful cyclone left 50 dead and thirty missing.
