Haiti – June 12, 2024

Storyline:
Haiti inaugurated its new cabinet members on June 12 under the leadership of its new Prime Minister Garry Conille.

The priorities set forth include combating corruption and eliminating instability to restore confidence among Haitians.

Since late February, several gang organizations in Haiti have launched attacks on public facilities in the capital, Port-au-Prince. These attacks targeted police stations, the police academy, and the international airport, demanding the resignation of the then Prime Minister Ariel Henry. Henry eventually resigned when a transitional council was created on April 25.

After more than a month, Garry Conille was appointed as Haiti’s new Prime Minister by the country's transitional council on May 28.
