The intensity of rainfall that occurred from Wednesday (12 June 2024) night to Thursday (13 June 2024) afternoon, resulted in the Banggai city area, Banggai Laut Regency, Central Sulawesi, being surrounded by floods and landslides.

One of the points where the flooding was quite severe was in the Kilo 1 area, Lompio Village, Banggai District.

"The water level almost reached an adult's waist. Several roads were no longer passable by vehicles, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled. One bridge connecting between sub-districts was also broken and collapsed due to flooding, and even one bridge in the STQ office area suffered serious damage," he said. Andi Sembiring, head of the emergency department of the Central Sulawesi regional disaster management agency on Friday 14 June 2024.

Currently, the electricity supply in Banggai Laut Regency is paralyzed, and even some sub-districts cannot access cellular networks.

Flooding not only occurred in the Kilo 1 area but in almost all areas of Banggai City, Dodung Village, Tano Bonunungan Village and Lompio Village and Banggai Tengah subdistrict.

In the weather forecast, the potential for rain in Banggai Laut Regency with moderate to heavy intensity and which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds will continue until the evening of June 14 2024 and the morning of June 15 2024.
