A joint rescue team evacuated dozens of women and children from a flash flood in Lampa Village, Banggai District, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, on Friday, June 14, 2024. The flood submerged 98 homes up to chest level and affected school buildings and places of worship, halting all school activities. Andi Sembiring, head of the regional disaster management agency's emergency unit, confirmed the severe impact.

The disaster began on Thursday, June 13, submerging three sub-districts. The Central Sulawesi Meteorology and Geophysics Agency predicts more rain, lightning, and strong winds through June 15, 2024.

The joint rescue team evacuated dozens of women and children at the location of the flash flood that occurred in Lampa Village, Banggai District, Banggai Laut Regency, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia on Friday 14 June 2024.

It was reported that as a result of the flood in Lampa village, currently 98 houses of heads of families were flooded up to an adult's chest level.

"The flood also submerged school buildings and places of worship, so that school children's activities here were completely paralyzed." said Andi Sembiring, Head of the Central Sulawesi Regional Disaster Management Agency's Emergency Unit on Friday 14 June 2024.

Previously it was reported that a major flash flood natural disaster hit Bangangan Laut Regency, submerging 3 sub-districts on Thursday 13 June 2024.

According to predictions from the Central Sulawesi Meteorology and Geophysics Agency, the potential for rain in Banggai Laut Regency with moderate to heavy intensity and accompanied by lightning and strong winds will continue until the afternoon of June 14 2024 and the morning of June 15 2024.
