USA: Deer Crashes Through Windshield of RIPTA Bus, Injuring Passengers in Warwick Incident

Dashcam footage released Tuesday captured a startling moment when a deer leaped through the windshield of a Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) bus, causing injuries to passengers aboard.
The incident occurred on Monday on Warwick Avenue in Warwick, where a deer unexpectedly collided with the moving RIPTA bus. According to Warwick Police Department reports, six passengers were onboard at the time of the collision. Two passengers sustained minor injuries from broken glass and were transported to the hospital, while a third sought medical attention independently for minor injuries.
Upon arrival at the scene, Environmental Police confirmed that the deer had died from the impact.
Christopher Durand, interim CEO of RIPTA, praised bus driver Leocadio Hernandez for his swift and composed reaction during the chaotic incident.
"His exceptional alertness and calm under pressure ensured the safety of all passengers," Durand stated. "This event highlights the dedication and professionalism of our drivers in upholding the highest standards of safety and care for our community."
