Heroic Chinese residents smash window to rescue trapped motorist after car plunges into river
Residents in southern China smashed a car window to rescue the trapped motorist after the vehicle plunged into a river.
The video was filmed in Chengdu City in Sichuan Province on June 13.
A BMW car lost control and crashed through a roadside barrier, plunging into the swift waters of the Jin River. With the vehicle swiftly carried downstream, the driver's life hung in the balance.
Mr. Jiao Dayin, who happened to be passing by, spotted the perilous situation and acted swiftly. He shed his clothes, grabbed a lifebuoy, and without hesitation plunged into the turbulent river. Despite the fierce current hindering his efforts to directly open the car door, he urgently called out for stones from the riverbank.
Responding to his plea, another concerned citizen, Mr. Wang Hui, joined the rescue. Armed with a large stone, he leapt into the river and swam to the car. With remarkable coordination and bravery, they fearlessly smashed the car window with the stone after several attempts. By now, water had risen inside the car, reaching the driver's chest, intensifying the urgency.
Jiao swiftly entered the vehicle and pulled the driver to safety with assistance from Wang. Together, they struggled to swim back to shore, but faced further challenges navigating the slippery and sloped riverbank of the Jin River.
Thankfully, other bystanders spontaneously formed a human chain, providing crucial support to the rescuers and the driver as they battled against the river's force. With a collective effort, they successfully brought everyone to safety on dry land.
Following immediate medical assessment, the rescued driver, thankfully, suffered no serious injuries and expressed heartfelt gratitude to Jiao Dayin, Wang Hui, and all involved in the rescue efforts.
