STORYLINE:

An increasing number of foreign companies in the new energy vehicle (NEV) industry are seeking closer partnerships with China.

Ralf Lorenz is appointed as the Chief Purchasing Officer of Volkswagen Germany stationed at China's battery maker Gotion High-tech two years ago. His arrival has opened up a new partnership model between the two companies.

"As a Volkswagen Group manager at Gotion High-Tech, I'm mainly responsible for the supply chain management here, and I bring Volkswagen's management and international experience.
Volkswagen has sent a total of 3 senior managers to be directors of the Gotion company, and in addition, the Volkswagen-Gotion joint project team has a total of more than 100 people."

This exemplifies the in-depth cooperation between the Chinese and global NEV industries.

In May this year, Chinese automaker Chery launched a groundbreaking NEV with a driving range exceeding 2,000 kilometers, featuring some tires supplied by German automotive company Continental Tire AG.

The establishment of Anhui Cummins, a joint venture between Chinese carmaker JAC Group and American engine manufacturer Cummins Inc., is a testament to the closer partnerships.
