Mount Ibu volcano exploded spewing volcanic ash more than 3000 meters above sea level

This is the second Mount Ibu erupted on Sunday morning, 16 June 2024 at 07.04 Eastern Indonesian time.

The height of the volcanic ash column reaches 2,500 meters above the peak and 3,825 meters above sea level, with a thick black gray color towards the east and southeast.

"The eruption occurred this Sunday morning, the height of the volcanic ash column reached 3,825 above sea level," said Ridwan Djalil, Mount Ibu Observation Post Officer.


It is known that from Saturday 15 June to Sunday 16 June 2024, Mount Ibu has erupted approximately 10 times. Meanwhile, in the last week, Mount Ibu has erupted 27 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG), Mount Ibu's level of volcanic activity is at alert status (level IV), residents are asked not to move within a 4 kilometer radius with a sectoral area of ​​up to 7 kilometers towards the opening of Mount Ibu's active crater.
