Plane lands on its nose at airport after landing gear fails to deploy
This is the moment a plane lands on its nose at a Brazilian airport after its front landing gear failed to deploy.
The footage was filmed at the Sorocaba Airport, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on June 12.
The video shows the twin-engine aircraft coming in to land with its wheels deployed only under the left and right wings, with the front landing gear that usually deploys below the cockpit conspicuously absent.
The pilot appears to manage to decrease the plane's speed while balancing on the two wheels before the nosecone inevitably hits the deck, causing a loud noise as it grinds against the tarmac.
The pilot then manoeuvres the Twin Commander AC900 aircraft left and it comes to a stop as the footage ends.
The plane had reportedly taken off from Jundiai and was bound for the city of Sao Roque de Minas but had to make an emergency landing when the pilot noticed a problem with the gear.
Local media reported that there were no injuries.
Rede Voa, the company that manages the airport, said in a statement: 'The landing was carried out successfully, without causing any type of incident, with the activation and presence of both our emergency team and external firefighters for monitoring.'
They added that no disruptions had been caused to air traffic.
