Peera Ram Bishnoi from Jalore, Rajasthan, has rescued thousands of animals since 2003 and has planted even more trees.

With the help of a few other villagers, Bishnoi has created his own forest from 6,000 tree saplings where he has rescued more than 1,500 deer.

Alongside the deer, he has rescued rabbits, monkeys, nilgais, and even peacocks. Once these injured animals have been treated, he releases them into the forest he grew.

For his incredible efforts, Bishoi was awarded the 'Earth Heroes' Award in 2018 by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu.

He was also honoured with the Wildlife Conservation Award in 2018–19.
