Police raid karaoke bar where minors worked as prostitutes in Bangkok
Police raided a karaoke bar allegedly prostituting underage girls in Thailand.
Officers converged on the Temthang Karaoke shop in a sting operation in Bangkok on June 12.
Married couple, Kritsana, 46, and Somsa-art, 44, were identified as the brothel owners and arrested, while three teenage girls were rescued.
Police Major General Sarut Khwaengsopha, commander of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division, said: 'Undercover police approached a 15-year-old employee and pretended to express interest in taking her home. Kritsana acted as the negotiator while Somsa-art recorded the transaction.
'The undercover officer paid with marked banknotes as recorded in the daily report. Kritsana then escorted the undercover police and the girl to a hotel on his motorcycle. Another police team were waiting to arrest him upon his return.'
The shop reportedly offered free condoms to patrons, as well as a free shuttle service to nearby hotels where customers can have sex.
Police said Kritsana and Somsa-art were facing eight charges, including underage prostitution, human trafficking, employing underage workers, and operating an entertainment venue without a license.
They were taken to the Human Trafficking Suppression Division 1 office for further legal proceedings.
