India: Cow rescued from well full of snakes in Shahdol

In a dramatic rescue operation, a cow was safely extracted from a water-filled well in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, after a harrowing ordeal. 
 
The incident took place behind the Convent School in Shahdol on June 16.
 
The rescue took place on the evening of June 16, between 8:29 and 9:45 PM.
 
The cow, weighing approximately one ton, had fallen into the well, which was also infested with snakes. The distressing situation required immediate action. The rescue operation was carried out by Atal Kaamdhenu Gausewa Sansthan, a local animal welfare organization known for its dedication to rescuing and caring for cows.

Upon receiving the distress call, the team from Atal Kaamdhenu Gausewa Sansthan arrived swiftly at the scene. The rescue efforts were fraught with challenges due to the cow's substantial weight and the presence of snakes in the well. Despite these difficulties, the rescuers worked tirelessly, employing ropes, harnesses, and a crane to lift the cow to safety.
 
Local residents and school staff gathered at the scene, anxiously observing the rescue operation. Cheers erupted when the cow was finally pulled out of the well, unharmed. The quick and effective response by the rescuers was widely praised.
