A huge wood panel came loose from a truck and flew into the car behind.

Dashcam footage shows the object slipping off from the underside of the vehicle in front before it hit the windscreen in Chonburi province, Thailand, on March 12.

There was a loud thud when the panel slammed the glass and the shocked driver slowed down before stopping on the side to check the damage.

No one was hurt and the car only had dents. However, driver Prapaporn Sanunrum said motorists should be more careful with their cargo.

She said: ‘Accidents can always happen on the road so drivers must always be more careful. If you have big cargo please tie them up well.'

Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
