Two bear cubs were rescued by the local wildlife department after they were spotted roaming around a residential area in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

The cubs had taken refuge at a graveyard in Adpora and had stayed there for a few days, sparking concerns amongst locals.

Wildlife officials are still searching for the cubs' mother so the family can be reunited and relocated.

In a significant wildlife operation, the Wildlife Department and local police successfully captured two bear cubs in northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir.


The incident took place in Amnoo area of Kulgam district on June 16.


Visuals showed how the bear cubs were captured with a lot of difficulties and rescued and sent back to their habitat.


The cubs, along with their mother, had taken shelter near the Adpora graveyard, causing panic among the local residents.


Wildlife officials reported that the bear family had been in the area for several days, leading to concerns for safety among the locals. The capture of the cubs has brought relief to the community, who praised the efforts of the Wildlife Department and the police.


The search for the mother bear is ongoing, with officials advising residents to avoid roaming in their orchards until the mother is safely captured. The Wildlife Department has assured the public that there is no need to panic and that the situation is under control.
