Woman’s stunt ends in death, man filming reel screams as car falls into valley
A tragic incident occurred in Maharashtra, where a young woman, identified as 23-year-old Shweta Deepak Surwase, died after accidentally reversing her car off a cliff, falling 300 feet into a gorge. Surwase, who was learning to drive, was reversing the vehicle when the accident happened.
Her friend, 25-year-old Suraj Sanjau Mule, recorded the incident on camera. The two friends had traveled from Aurangabad to Sulibhanjan Hills on June 17 afternoon. Around 2 pm, Surwase started reversing the car, which was still 50 meters away from the cliff. As she continued to back up, the car's speed increased, and her friend warned her to slow down, shouting "Clutch, clutch, clutch." Despite his efforts to stop her, the car fell into the gorge, resulting in her death.
"Shweta Survase attempted to drive while her friend Shivraj Mule recorded a video. She accidentally pressed the accelerator while the car was in reverse gear. The vehicle slid back, broke through a crash barrier, and plunged into the valley. Rescuers took an hour to reach her and the vehicle. She was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital," said an official from the Khutabad police station.
Witnesses reported that the car rolled down the 300-foot cliff, and visuals showed the mangled remains of the vehicle in the gorge. The friends were visiting the Dattatreya temple in Sulibhanjan, a popular tourist spot during the rainy season due to its picturesque scenery.
