STORYLINE:

In the 1930s, architects Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin came to north China's Shanxi Province four times to investigate ancient architecture. They highly praised the architecture of Guangsheng Temple.

"This is Guangsheng Temple. In 1933, Zhaocheng Jin Zang (Zhaocheng Jin Tripitaka), a Chinese version of the Buddhist canon dating from the Jin Dynasty (1115-1234) was discovered here, becoming a sensation in the academic world and making the name of Guangsheng Temple known throughout the country."

Today, it stands alongside the Dunhuang manuscripts, the Yongle Encyclopedia, and the "Complete Library in Four Sections," as one of the four treasures of the National Library of China.

"Zhaocheng Jin Tripitaka, along with the Feihong Pagoda and Yuan Dynasty drama murals, are the three treasures of Guangsheng Temple. Apart from them, there is also a marvel. The two trees behind me."

These two trees are affectionately known as "the twisted." The one on the right whose texture is of a left twist. The one on the left whose texture is of a right twist. As for the reason, it is still a mystery.

"According to Liang and Lin, what made Guangsheng Temple even more remarkable was its architecture. I am currently at the lower temple of Guangsheng Temple."

This building features a unique architectural structure with Chinese character "Ren" (people) shaped beams inside the hall, reducing the use of interior pillars, which is a rare architectural feature nationwide. 

Outside Guangsheng Temple, at the foot of Huoshan Mountain, there is another wonder. That is the spring. Last year, the Huoquan Spring Irrigation System was designated as a World Heritage Irrigation Structure.
