Chinese woman alive after pressure cooker explodes in her face and kitchen collapses
This is the moment a 61-year-old Chinese woman was left stunned but still standing when her pressure cooker blew up in her face and caused half of her kitchen to collapse.
The video, filmed in Wenzhou, in Zhejiang, China, shows the pensioner in her kitchen cooking rice dumplings and bent over her stove.
The clip shows her standing upright and beginning to walk away from the stove when there is a huge explosion of steam and food that sprays all over her.
But she is still standing when she warily points at the other side of her kitchen and what appears to be an air extractor collapses in the middle of the floor as the footage ends.
Local media said that the woman was admitted to the Second Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University on June 7.
The woman reportedly suffered a serious, 15-centimetre injury to her right eye, causing loss of vision.
Medics reportedly said that grains of rice had become stuck in the rice cooker, causing a build up of steam and pressure, and the explosion.
The woman also reportedly suffered lacerations to her face but her condition is said to currently be stable, according to reports.
