The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Shanghai Regional Center was officially opened on Wednesday at the 15th Lujiazui Forum held in Shanghai.
The center in Shanghai is one of the regional centers set up by the IMF around the world. It has been established to strengthen the IMF's engagement and cooperation with Asia Pacific economies and conduct relevant research in areas of interest to emerging markets and middle-income countries.

"The new regional center in Shanghai (is) to further strengthen our dialogue with partners across the Asia Pacific region and beyond, and especially with emerging markets and developing economies. And it will enable deeper engagement with our members and with our wider stakeholders, international financial institutions, academics, think tanks, civil society organizations, and the private sector."
