USA: Teen Arrested for Smuggling After DPS Traffic Stop in Webb County
Webb County, USA - June 7, 2024
A routine traffic stop on IH-35 in Webb County led to the arrest of a 17-year-old driver, Jose Luis Garcia of Laredo, on charges of smuggling persons, following a collaboration between DPS Troopers and Border Patrol.
During the stop, DPS Troopers enlisted the assistance of a Border Patrol K9, which alerted to the rear of the vehicle. Upon investigation, Troopers discovered three individuals identified as illegal immigrants from Guatemala.
Authorities promptly arrested Garcia and charged him with smuggling persons, a serious offense under Texas law. The three immigrants were referred to Border Patrol for further processing.
