Marin County, USA - June 16, 2024

Emergency responders swiftly mobilized on 16 June following a report of a fall along the Cataract Trail, culminating in a successful rescue operation coordinated by H-30, California State Parks, Marin County Fire, and Station 21.

The incident unfolded when State Parks located the injured hiker and relayed GPS coordinates to H-30. Utilizing specialized equipment, H-30 lowered a Marin County Fire Paramedic to the scene and secured the hiker in a rescue harness.

Both the injured hiker and the paramedic were then carefully hoisted from the creek bed by H-30 and airlifted to Alpine Dam, where they were transferred to a waiting ambulance. The hiker, who sustained moderate injuries, was subsequently transported by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.

The collaborative effort among emergency services underscored their preparedness and swift response in rescuing individuals in distress along Marin County's rugged trails. Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the hiker but emphasized the importance of caution and preparedness while exploring wilderness areas.
