This is the moment a huge wall of fog advances into a Chinese city like an avalanche.

The video was recorded in the coastal city of Yantai in the Shandong Peninsula of Shandong province, China, on June 10.

Weather experts described the incident as advection fog which forms as warmer, moist air as it moves over cold ground.

The video was shot by a local man named Mr Yi who said that the arrival of the fog made it feel more like autumn than a summer day and the temperature fell quickly to around 15 degrees Celsius.

He added: 'At times it was sunny, at times it was windy and foggy, like a fairyland. The weather in Yantai is really unpredictable.'

Yantai experiences its seasons in the same way as most of the Northern Hemisphere.
