Ecuador: Nationwide Power Outage Hits After Power Line Failure

A power outage struck Ecuador on Wednesday afternoon, June 19 leaving the population of 18 million in the dark for several hours.

The nationwide blackout affected the subway system in the capital Quito as well as traffic lights and other road signals.

Public Works Minister Roberto Luque said on X that it was caused by a power transmission line failure.
