This is the heartwarming moment a stray kitten trapped in a sewer for four days was rescued in China.

Kindhearted residents and the property management team retrieved the distressed orange cat from the drainage pipe in Bengbu, Anhui, on June 12.

Footage shows the rescuers cutting open the pipe with an electric saw. One of the men extended his arms into the hole to grab the feline.

The poor animal was covered in mud, grime, and lime residue and appeared to be barely alive.

Fortunately, it did not sustain any serious injuries.

The filmer took it home and cared for it, naming the furry creature Fubao.

According to the onlooker, the kitten is one of four born to a stray cat in the neighbourhood, and she had been feeding them daily. However, on Sunday, June 9, she noticed that one kitten was suddenly missing.

She initially thought that a kind person might have adopted it.
