Italy: Wildfire at Camaldoli, Naples
Metropolitan City of Naples, Italy - June 20, 2024
A significant wildfire has kept firefighters busy on the hills of Camaldoli since yesterday afternoon. The blaze, which has affected vegetation in the area, prompted the deployment of eight ground teams and an Erickson S-64 helicopter throughout the night.
Early this morning, operations were further supported by a Canadair aircraft, which conducted approximately fifteen water drops to contain the flames. Fortunately, authorities have confirmed that no residential areas are currently threatened by the fire.
Efforts to fully extinguish the blaze are ongoing, with firefighters maintaining control over the situation. The cause of the wildfire has not yet been determined, and authorities continue to monitor the area closely.
