A massive landslide struck a town in southern China, trapping two elderly individuals in the mud.

The video was filmed in Longyan City in Fujian Province on June 17.

The landslide occurred following heavy rainfall, with the massive impact destroying roadside houses and leaving the two seniors stranded in the mud overnight.

Rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene after receiving the distress call, but the challenging conditions, including deep mud, severely hampered their efforts.

After almost ten hours of relentless work, rescuers located the two trapped elders. They were found soaked and covered in mud, almost unrecognisable.

The rescue team immediately transported them to the hospital. One of the elderly individuals suffered from cranial bleeding and required further treatment, while the other had a shattered femur and needed surgery.

Thanks to the hospital's full efforts, both seniors' vital signs have stabilised, and they are gradually recovering.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
