In an innovative move, a protester armed with a knapsack sprayer was seen helping fellow demonstrators during the #RejectFinanceBill2024 protests in Nairobi. As police deployed tear gas against the crowd, the protesters used the sprayer to alleviate the eye irritation caused by the fumes.

Kenyan youth turned out in large numbers to oppose President William Ruto's Finance Bill 2024, which introduced heavy new taxes. The bill was under debate in Parliament, where it passed its second reading with a vote of 204 for YES and 115 for NO, driven by the president’s majority party.

Protests erupted in more than six counties, with over 10,000 demonstrators nationwide.
