Atlanta Judge Arrested After Incident at Buckhead Nightclub
Atlanta, GA, USA - June 20, 2024.
Atlanta police have disclosed details surrounding the arrest of Douglas County probate court judge Christina Peterson at a Buckhead nightclub. The incident, captured on bodycam footage and detailed in an official report, has sparked controversy and legal scrutiny.
According to police records, Peterson faces charges including simple battery against a police officer and felony obstruction of law enforcement. The arrest unfolded when an Atlanta police officer, stationed at the Red Martini Restaurant and Lounge, intervened in a disturbance involving Peterson and a security guard escorting a woman out of the establishment.
Allegedly, Peterson approached the officer and security guard, pushing the officer and obstructing his efforts to assist the woman. Bodycam footage showed Peterson being handcuffed and refusing to provide her name to police.
Supporters, including attorney Marvin Arrington Jr. and witnesses at a subsequent press conference, asserted Peterson's innocence. They claimed she was intervening to aid a woman allegedly under attack inside the club, criticizing the officer's handling of the situation.
The incident adds to existing controversy surrounding Peterson, who is also under investigation by the Georgia Judicial Qualifications Commission for prior misconduct allegations dating back to 2021.
