London, UK - June 22, 2024.

On June 22, hundreds of supporters of Youth Demand gathered at Oxford Circus, effectively blocking the central London intersection to advocate for significant policy changes. The demonstration, which commenced at Victoria Embankment Gardens and culminated in Oxford Circus around 2:50 pm, centered on two primary demands: a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel and a cessation of new oil and gas licenses granted by the UK government since 2021.

The protesters, consisting largely of young activists, convened earlier at Victoria Embankment Gardens where they engaged in speeches and a people's assembly—a forum for deliberative discussions on pressing societal issues. The group later dispersed, with various contingents marching through central London before converging on Oxford Circus.

As tensions rose, no arrests have been reported thus far, though police presence has been noted at the scene. Among those participating was Poppy Jabelman, a 23-year-old human geography student from Exeter, who passionately articulated the group's stance against what they perceive as complicity in humanitarian crises.

Simultaneously, Violet Powell, 23, a student from Leeds, voiced similar concerns, emphasizing the urgency of action in light of perceived political inaction on critical global issues.
