A few days before the video was taken, Sonia's husband fell off a ladder while working in a remote location in the West Desert of Utah. Alone and injured, he drove 20 minutes to get help. At the ER, his wrist was stabilized, and Dr. Shaun Mendenhall was recommended for the repair.

The video captures his pre-op visit at the University of Utah Hospital, where Dr. Mendenhall impressed them with his professional and kind demeanor, especially when he skillfully removed the husband's wedding ring without cutting it off.

Sonia filmed this to show her daughters, who work in the medical field, and shared it online, hoping other health workers could learn from and apply this technique.

It amazed us how professional and kind this doctor was of my husband’s predicament since during the ER they forgot to take the ring off. He assumed they would have to cut his ring off and was very impressed of the technique this doctor used to remove it and save his wedding ring. I filmed to show my daughters who work on the medical field but I posted it because I think it would be something more health workers could learn from and apply.
