STORYLINE:
The 2024 World Intelligence Expo, held in China's Tianjin last week, attracted many foreign enterprises to showcase their products.
Markus Luetzenburger, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) expert at Germany's TENSOR AG, said that his company wants to explore China's rapidly developing low-altitude economy.
SOUNDBITE (English): MARKUS LUETZENBURGER, UAV senior expert at TENSOR AG
"This is now the first model, the first time here in China to show the Chinese public our aircraft.
Our aircraft, as you see, looks like a helicopter. But it's not a helicopter. It's so called auto-drive plane, which means that the rotor on top is not driven by an engine. It's free spinning. It's just driven by the wind speed. So the air is moving through the rotor, and the rotor starts spinning by the airflow and creating lift.
Because it isn't a gyroplane, it can be operated very safely in very low altitudes. And also we don't need a runway.
So it's a perfect match for the new low-altitude airspace here in China."
Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Tianjin, China.
