Passengers experience nosebleeds as Boeing 737 MAX 8 pressure system fails
A Boeing 737 MAX 8, departing from Seoul's Incheon International Airport en route to Taichung, Taiwan, had to perform an emergency landing on June 22 due to a malfunctioning cabin pressurization system. The sudden descent from 30,000 feet to 9,000 feet caused ear pain, hyperventilation, and nosebleeds among passengers. Two individuals suffered nosebleeds, while 15 reported ear discomfort and hyperventilation.
One passenger likened the experience to intense rollercoaster G-forces. Thirteen passengers received medical attention upon landing, but authorities confirmed no serious injuries. This incident mirrors a similar one last October involving an Air Canada 737 MAX 8 from Mexico City to Toronto, which diverted to Houston.
