Mount Marapi In West Sumatra, Indonesia, Experienced Another Eruption On Monday 24 June 2024, At 14:08 Local Time. This Was Conveyed By The Marapi Volcano Observation Post.

Based On Observations, The Eruption Of Mount Marapi Has An Ash Column Height Of Approximately 1,000 Meters. This Is Above The Peak Or Around 3,891 Meters Above Sea Level.

"The Ash Column Was Observed To Be Gray In Color With Thick Intensity Leaning Towards The South. This Eruption Was Recorded On A Seismogram With A Maximum Amplitude Of 10.55 Mm And A Duration Of Approximately 71 Seconds," Said Ahmad Rifandi, An Officer At The Marapi Volcano Observation Post.

It Is Known That Mount Marapi Is At Level Iii Or Alert Status. The Public Is Advised Not To Enter The Area Within A 4.5 Kilometer Radius.

Including Climbers And Tourists, They Are Asked Not To Carry Out Activities Within The Specified Radius Area. Because The Threat Of Cold Lava From Mount Marapi Can Occur At Any Time, Especially When It Rains.

"If Ash Falls, People Are Advised To Use Masks Covering Their Nose And Mouth. This Is To Avoid Respiratory Tract Problems (Ari), As Well As Other Equipment To Protect Their Eyes And Skin," Said Ahmad Rifandi.
