A woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man and a woman were brutally attacked on a quiet suburban street.

Police and ambulance crews raced to a house on Talavera Road, in Norton, Worcester after residents reported hearing screaming on Saturday (22/6) night.

A man and a woman were found with serious injuries and were rushed to hospital.

A 34-year-old woman, who was at the scene, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Residents on the estate, where houses fetch up to £400,000, expressed shock at the attack and described seeing blood on the driveway of the property.

One said: "I was watching the Euros when I saw all these vehicles rushing past."

"One police car came whizzing by, then an unmarked police car, then a police van, and then an ambulance."

Another resident, who was walking her dog on Talavera Road the following morning, said there was a police cordon around the home.

She said: "I was unaware of what had happened the night before, but I saw police tape around the front of the house early on Sunday during my walk."

"There was dried blood on the driveway, and one police car parked outside still."

One resident, who lives close to the property where the attack took place, said:
"Another of my neighbours was having a party, but I could still hear the shouting nearby."

West Mercia Police say the woman has been released on bail.

A spokesperson said: "We received a call around 9.20pm on Saturday evening with a report of an assault at a property on Talavera Road in Norton, Worcestershire."

"Officers attended the incident and a woman, aged 34, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder."

"She is currently on bail whilst enquiries continue."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said it also sent emergency vehicles to a private address on the street.

They said: "Two ambulances and the Air Ambulance Critical Care Car from Strensham were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews discovered two patients: a man and a woman."

"They were both treated for serious injuries and taken to hospital."
