The Republic of Korea Navy submarine ROKS Lee Boem-seok (SS 081) has docked at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, marking its participation in the harbor phase of Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2024. This arrival sets the stage for one of the world's largest international maritime exercises, which will take place in and around the Hawaiian Islands from June 27 to August 1.

RIMPAC 2024 boasts participation from 29 nations, including 40 surface ships, three submarines, 14 national land forces, over 150 aircraft, and a collective of 25,000 personnel. Established in 1971, this year marks the 29th iteration of RIMPAC, continuing its legacy as a pivotal platform for enhancing maritime security and cooperation among global naval forces.

The exercise aims not only to provide unparalleled training opportunities but also to strengthen collaborative relationships crucial for safeguarding sea lanes and ensuring oceanic security worldwide.
