Russia: Former employees of Russian Investigative Committee in court charged with bribe taking

Former investigators of Russia's Investigative Committee Kristina Lyakhovenko (L) and Marat Tambiyev appear at the Balashikha Municipal Court charged with bribe taking. Lyakhovenko is also charged with the falsification of evidence. According to the prosecution, in January 2022, Tambiyev, Lyakhovenko and another defendant, with the mediation of a lawyer and a computer specialist, received a bribe in cryptocurrency equivalent to 7.3 billion rubles from a group of hackers. Under the terms of the criminal deal, after receiving the bribe, the investigators did not confiscate the rest of the hackers' cryptocurrency in the amount of over 14 billion roubles.
