China's latest polar research vessel for icebreaking missions, the Jidi, has been successfully delivered to the country's Ministry of Natural Resources in Guangzhou.

Developed and manufactured by Guangzhou Shipyard International Company, under the China State Shipbuilding Corporation, the ship measures 89 meters long, about 18 meters wide, and has a navigational range of around 26,000 kilometers.

Jidi is part of China's next generation of icebreaking boats that work to support research and replenish supplies at the country's outposts in the North and South Poles.
