Heavy rain causes flooding and landslides in northern India, no casualties reported

Due to heavy rain in northern India’s Uttarakhand people witnessed a significant rise in water levels, causing several vehicles to get stuck.

The incident took place at Muni ki Reti area and Lakshman Jhoola area in Tehri Garhwal District on June 26.

Visuals showed after the landslide, the rescue team was using heavy machinery to extract the vehicles trapped in the debris. There was a significant amount of debris spread all around the area.

According to reports heavy rain in the Muni Ki Reti area led to a significant increase in water levels at Khara Shrot, resulting in several vehicles getting stuck. The local police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams were present at the site. With the help of JCB machines, the stranded vehicles were successfully removed. No casualties were reported in this incident.

Simultaneously, in the Laxman Jhula area, near the Dobatta Bhoot Nath Temple, landslides caused some vehicles and passengers to get trapped. SDRF teams from Dhalwala and Laxman Jhula Police arrived at the scene and used JCB machines to clear the debris, ensuring the safe evacuation of all those trapped.
