Ancient city wall collapses due to heavy rain in eastern China
An ancient city wall collapsed due to heavy rain in eastern China.
CCTV footage filmed in Quzhou City in Zhejiang Province on June 26, shows a section of the ancient city wall, boasting over a millennium of history, experienced a partial collapse.
Eyewitnesses described hearing a loud noise in the early morning, followed by the discovery of the collapsed section of the city wall. Upon receiving the report, authorities swiftly responded and arrived at the scene to initiate emergency measures.
According to experts who conducted on-site inspections, the collapsed section of the city wall measures approximately 19 metres in length and 7 metres in height.
Notably, this particular segment of the wall underwent restoration work in 1995. Initial analysis by experts attributes the collapse primarily to the recent prolonged heavy rainfall in the region.
