Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, who is on a state visit to China, highlighted the strengthening ties between China and Peru during an exhibition tour in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen on Wednesday.
Titled "The Son of the Sun - The Inca and Their Tawantinsuyu: The Land of Four Quarters," the exhibition in Nanshan Museum displays 168 Peruvian cultural artifacts from 14 different Peruvian museums, showcasing the grandeur of the Inca Empire and the Andean civilization.
SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): QI XIN, Director of Nanshan Museum
"The Chinese civilization and the Inca civilization, two unique civilizations, have an enduring cultural exchange despite being separated by the Pacific Ocean. The cultural exchanges between the two countries may date back to the 16th century when a Maritime Silk Road was formed from the southeast coast of China through Manila to the Pacific coast of Mexico and all the way south to the coast of Peru."

"I would like to emphasize that this archaeological exhibition is not only a cultural exhibition but also a symbol of solidarity between our two countries. Over the years, Peru and China have strengthened their ties not only in terms of trade, investment, politics and diplomacy, but also through the enriching cultural exchange and people-to-people ties."
The president is in China for a state visit from June 25 to 29.
