School Bus Escapes Major Tragedy in Landslide
A bus carrying students and staff from Sri Sri Ravi Shankar School was hit by a landslide in Richi Jollang, near the NES building, at 3:15 pm today. In a remarkable stroke of luck, all occupants survived, with only two teachers and the driver sustaining minor injuries. The bus was transporting one student, four teachers, one driver, and two didis (caretakers) when the landslide struck. Quick response from emergency services ensured prompt medical attention for the injured. The bus remains stuck in the debris, wedged between stones and land. Following the landslide incident near Richi Jollang, the Capital District Administration has diverted traffic from the Ganga-Chimpu-Jullang route until further notice. The road from Ganga-Jullang is currently undergoing restoration work. Commuters are advised to use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience. The administration is working diligently to ensure the road is restored and safe for travel as soon as possible.
