A stray dog with its head stuck between the gaps of a metal gate trying to chase kittens was rescued.

The Thai Ridgeback pooch poked through the hole in the bottom of a gate while catching pet felines from the street in Ayutthaya, Thailand, on June 26 at 9 am.

However, its body was too big for the space, and it cried until it was found by house owner Surachai Teerawattanawong, 59, who called the rescue team for help.

Footage shows the canine's head covered with cloth as rescue volunteers tried to free it. A medic later arrived, and the pooch was released unhurt.

Surachai said: ‘I heard a noise and went out to investigate. The stray dog was trapped. I felt pity for it.'

The dog ran back to the streets while the two kittens it was chasing were safe.
