Saudi tourist gets stuck on tree while parasailing on Thai beach
A Saudi tourist was left dangling on a tree when his parachute was blown off-course while parasailing in Thailand.
Mohammed Ali Warrad Abdul Wahab, 30, was about to make a landing on Kamala Beach in Phuket when a gust blew him to the side on July 1.
His parachute was snagged on a 16ft tall tree with him hanging over the sandy shore as other beachgoers stretched a blanket under him in case he fell.
Police Lieutenant Surasit Wandee of the Kamala Police Station said officers received a report at 6 pm.
He said: 'The wind may have changed direction while the man was parasailing, causing his parachute to get stuck in the tree. It was an accident and the victim was happy to get down. He was safe and did not need to go to hospital.'
Rescuers were dispatched to the scene and used a cherry picker crane to retrieve Mohammed safely. He was shaken but unhurt following the ordeal.
