SOUNDBITE 1 (English) ANNA KOVALEVA, Russian expat
"It was my first time in China in 2017. I was just curious because everyone knew at that time that China was making a big impact on the world economy. So I wanted to see it with my own eyes. I was truly amazed at how nice it is to live here, how convenient it is. I feel very lucky myself to spend all these years in China, learning from Chinese people and studying Chinese culture too.
Right now, I study in Shenzhen MSU-BIT (University). I've chosen world economy as my major because the Chinese economic miracle, how people call it, made a huge impact on the whole world, on world economy in general, so I want to study it and I hope that other countries will also learn from China, and that my country maybe can adopt some good features of it, some good practices.
I keep saying that I feel like China is my second home, and I love it as my home country. As soon as I get my PhD, I would love to work in a Chinese university, or maybe a Chinese think tank or somewhere I can use my knowledge to help the economy grow. Because I do believe that when it comes to the world economy, the countries can do is to collaborate, to work together, to thrive together."
