STORYLINE:
Rwandan president Paul Kagame on Monday unveiled the newly refurbished 45,000-seat Amahoro Stadium in the nation's capital of Kigali.
Kagame was accompanied by Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe, amidst thousands of football fans and enthusiasts filling the stadium.
The inauguration event also featured a friendly match between the 2023/24 Rwanda Primus National League champions Armee Patriotique Rwandaise Football Club (APR FC) and Peace Cup winners Police Football Club (Police FC).

"We will do even more and try to do better. So, now, there is no excuse for our young footballing talent. You have to work hard, you have to work smart, and let's be counted among the best on our continent. CAF President Motsepe said at the inauguration event that the stadium is one of the most beautiful and best stadiums in Africa and the world.

The Amahoro Stadium had a capacity of 25,000 spectators before the renovation. It can now accommodate 45,000 people. The stadium showcases advanced technology and features, and has multiple buildings that serve various purposes, highlighting its versatility and modernity.
The stadium has already secured approval from FIFA to host international matches.
