This is the moment a village party secretary drives a bulldozer to rescue villagers from a flood.

Donghu village was hit by heavy rainfall, causing rivers to overflow on the streets, in Pingjiang County of Hunan Province, China, on Sunday, June 30.

Villagers living in low-lying areas soon found themselves trapped with no way out. People were trapped in their homes, with the rapid waters rising around them quickly.

The Village Party Secretary, Fang Weiping, then drove a bulldozer towards the rapidly rising waters to save the villagers.

Fang drove the bulldozer to and from the rapids to transfer villagers several times. He managed to transfer more than 30 trapped people to higher ground.

Fang said that they have a major flood every seven or eight years. The relatively low-lying areas are flooded and the water rises very quickly.

Online commentators like 'Xiaolan' said: 'A good secretary for the people.'

And user 'Forest' said: 'Thumbs up for Secretary Fang, and wish his family peace.'

While the user 'Tang' said: 'Good leader of the people.'
