Toxic smoke threatens Cornish Holiday Park in major fire

Buy video

A large fire erupted behind houses on the A392 main road, posing a severe threat to Hendra Holiday Park and sending toxic black smoke billowing across the town.

The blaze, difficult to access and dangerously close to a major telecoms tower, prompted fire services from as far as Perranporth to respond.

Major road closures, including the A392 and Trencreek B road, were enforced. This incident follows closely on the heels of another major fire that recently consumed the derelict California Hotel in Pentire Newquay. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
